Hi, I’m Phil Bedford, the luthier behind Bogus Guitars. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working alongside skilled makers, including Bernie Goodfellow of GB Guitars, which helped develop my passion for handcrafted guitars made from sustainably sourced materials.

I am also a passionate musician and love to play. My journey into guitar making began with a simple desire to create instruments that felt truly personal. I would often see guitars in local shops that looked great but did not quite tick every box — perhaps the neck felt right, but the fretboard radius was not quite what I wanted, or I wished a particular headstock was available on a different body shape. So, I began rebuilding and adapting shop-bought guitars to make them feel more like my own.

Ultimately, though, that was not enough. My passion has always been to hand-make guitars from start to finish, bringing together creativity, craftsmanship and my own vision for instruments that are beautiful, playable and built with care. I am proud that Bogus Guitars offers affordable playability alongside carefully chosen woods and high-quality components. Each guitar is completely one of a kind, finished with love, care and genuine passion.
